Neighborhood - A Poem

Neighborhood

By: Theresa Richardson

I sit on the porch

and stare at the street

where the neighborhood kids

play in their bare feet

It’s much more peaceful

out on the back deck

you can watch the wind blow

the tiniest speck

But I’m drawn to the front

where the activity is

because this is the place

real camaraderie lives

I’m never alone

although I’m by myself

as my poor neighborhood

displays its great wealth

We don’t have a pool

or a great big yard

but we have each other

when times are hard

What a wondeful description of neighbourhood. I live in one too and your poem reminded me of my 'wealth' of people. Thank-you for sharing your poem.

Hello Theresa,  I just popped over from Deb space, you have such a wonderful space and I thank you for the lovely poem you wrote.  I would like to send you a friend invite.  God Bless.  Much Love, Mooey Me.

PS:  I left the following comment on Deb's blog entry.

Thanks Deb and Theresa for such a wonderful poem.  God is the strength of my life and helps me get through everyday.  I loved verse four also as most days I do sit out the front of my house (unless it too cold) and read my Bible.  Recently, a friend passed me by and stopped for a chat and noticed I was reading the Bible.  We got to chatting about this and that then I said to her " I don't know how you feel about God, but do you believe in God?"  Her reply "Yes", all this time we had known each other and not once had we asked about religion.  We were both so happy and had the biggest hug ever!  Then we just both sat out the front for hours and enjoyed, great conversation while watching all the activity and all God's wonderful creations.  Warm Hugs, Mooey Me

Love that poem Theresa...it is so important to remember that no matter how bad things look or how tough the battles we must fight, as long as families have each other, all is well in the end.
Thanks for reminding us of this.  My husband is coming home after being out of town working for several weeks, so it is fitting that I read this today.

Theresa, I love it!  Thanks for sharing your thoughts today.

The fourth verse really touched me...It made me think of the communities that we live in that may not know the love of Christ and all the potential that is out there if more and more people came to know Him and display His love.  For that matter, even the Body of Christ.

I hope you don't mind...I'm going to blog it girlfriend!  Love in Christ, Deb

Theresa,

This was a very moving and thought provoking post!  How true it is.  In times when we may not have much of anything else, at least we have each other....that is in as families and friends having each other!

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend my fiend!
