12月15日 Gingerbread Man - A Children's PoemEvery year my Mother in law has a Christmas party for the children. It always is a great night full of fun, singing, games, crafts and food. Santa always shows up. Each year the party is based on a theme. This year the theme was snowmen and last year, it was gingerbread men. She could not find a poem she was happy with for Sissy to recite, so I wrote the one below. I was able to personalize it by throwing in all her grandchildren's names, (which I changed to their blog names). I did not include Sissy 's name because she is the one reciting the poem. It was a lot of light hearted fun. I wrote one again for this years party, but I'll share that one later. Be a kid and enjoy!
Gingerbread Man

What can be that wonderful smell?
What Grandma’s cooking you never can tell.
A glorious mixture of sugar and spice,
Whatever it is, will be quite nice!
Look at that in the pan!
Fresh from the oven – a gingerbread man!
See his arms and his legs, his tummy, his head;
they are all made from gingerbread.
He buttons up with gumdrops and opens his eyes of candy.
Grandma decorates with icing and makes him look dandy!
He looks too good to eat – almost alive!
But I know my cousins, I hope she made five!
Bubba and Paddy, Nate, Bro Bro, and me
Will dunk and dip men in milk up to their knees.
The buttons will melt on the roof of our mouth.
Then we’ll all beg Grandma for a gingerbread house.
Gingerbread, Gingerbread, Gingerbread man,
I am your biggest fan.
From the top of your head down to your feet,
you make Christmas time complete!
