    Captive - A Poem

    Captive

    I really want some quiet

    so that sense might be caught.

    I just need a moment

    alone with this thought.

     

    I want to put some words

    together in a pretty way

    or arrange some sentences

    to convey what I need to say.

     

    I’m unsure of myself.

    I need time to prepare.

    Because feelings like these

    catch me completely unaware.

     

    You think my motives different

    from what I feel inside.

    You really think I’m running

    to find a place to hide.

     

    But all I need is quiet

    so that sense might be caught.

    I just need a moment 

    alone with this thought.

    So far, this is my favorite.  It touches me because I'm pretty sure these words came straight from my heart. :) 

    Thank you for your notes.  It's funny how you said, I say things out loud that you'd only think – because I was reading your post early this morning, about the packages to your brother, and then about supporting your children's hearts for giving, and I was thinking at that point - how good it would be to take care of things like that.  You do all of those things that I think about, and so often don't get done.  Like the letters every week to your brother.  What a wonderful way to support him. No doubt, he will always be grateful for that.

    Wow! Your poems are so rich and meaningful. You are a very gifted person. Thankyou for sharing this poem that comes from your heart. Quiet Moments are our friend. We all need to spend time alone to sort out our thoughts and feelings but you know that in those quiet times God is right there with us.
